About

NovaScotiaFishing.com is a web site developed by Nova Scotia anglers for Nova Scotia anglers.

The purpose of NovaScotiaFishing.com is to serve as a "home-base" on the web for both resident and non-resident Nova Scotia anglers. If you fish in Nova Scotia, consider this your web site community to help pass the time while you are not out angling. Enjoy!

Contained within this site you will find a variety of unique features that will help you as a Nova Scotia angler such as, the Fishlog system, Online Magazine, Discussion Forum, Live Chat rooms, Contests, News Updates, The Fishing Business Directory, and a much more.

Development on this web site began in spring of 2001 and constant updates and revisions are being made to ensure that NovaScotiaFishing.com remains the #1 online sport fishing resource for Nova Scotia.

In June of 2006, the owners/developers of NovaScotiaFishing.com, David and Angela Doggett received one of Canada's Recreational Fisheries Awards.  For complete details, click here.

Who is behind ?

David & Angela Doggett - Owners/Founders

Dave, 31, born and raised in Nova Scotia, together with his wife Angela own and operate NovaScotiaFishing.com. Dave is an avid angler and his background in Nova Scotia began fishing for Striped Bass with his father, Tom Doggett.

After 6 years of Striped Bass experience Dave and his father were introduced to Smallmouth Bass Fishing. They quickly became strong contenders in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick Smallmouth Bass tournaments, their highlight being a 1st place finish in the 1998 Best Western Bass Bonanza Tournament in Mactaquac.

Dave is also a licensed Nova Scotia fishing guide and operates Dave's Guide Service during the season and primarily guides nonresidents for Striped Bass and Smallmouth Bass.

In more recent years, David has become very active with other species such as Atlantic Salmon, Rainbow and Speckled Trout and Dave has worked with The Department of Fisheries to help study Striped Bass migration.

Dave is a multimedia/web developer by trade and has been in the business since 1997. He and his wife Angela own and operate Cybernetic Media Inc. a global multimedia/web development company. He also is a part time instructor at the Nova Scotia Community College IT campus in Halifax.

Late in 1999, Dave decided that it was time for a web site that Nova Scotia anglers could call home. Not just a place where people can go learn and interact with other anglers, but a complete resource that will constantly have areas of interest to all Nova Scotia anglers, no matter what species and method of fishing you prefer.

"What started off as such a simple idea has evolved into something that all Nova Scotia anglers can use to gain and share knowledge. I am very excited with the overwhelming response to NovaScotiaFishing.com and thank all those who have helped out in one way or another. It is my hope that NovaScotiaFishing.com will help in generating an increased interest in Nova Scotia sportfishing in general and help contribute to the future of sportfishing and conservation in Nova Scotia."

Dave spends a great deal of his fishing time these days with his wife Angela who is also an avid angler.
