Judge Says DFO was Unjustifiably Evasive and Obstructive
Good to see that there should be some accountability for DFO not protecting endangered species . This will let some light in the windows I hope .

Hi BloodKnot,
Very informative article. Thanks for posting it. Without a doubt, there are areas for much improvement when it comes to this department and yet the Government still continues to cut their budget. I believe the last Budget axed $57 million. Please read: Budget to trim $57 million from DFO
Can't say I expect great improvement in the near future.
Great post BloodKnot,

Now that this is a ruling in the Federal Court of Canada, there may very well be something positive come from this. I don't imagine bureaucrats like being kicked in the arse (in public) to the tune of $80,000 for acting like bureaucrats. Their new comfort zone may very well have to be "positive action" instead of "negative inaction" which is all good in my opinion, a veritable "sea change" if you will pardon the pun. Thanks BloodKnot. Regards.....

I'd like to hear more about the facts of the case.
All I see above is that the Georgia Strait Alliance felt that DFO didn't go far enough in making new laws to protect killer whales.
Another special interest group rewriting the laws of Canada.

I agree, this ruling can be seen as the start of the new beginning to make changes within DFO???
If you never challenge the GOV. you will NEVER get change.............................!
