I proclaim to visit this site when the snow and ice are gone. However I do not proclaim it will still interest me when the snow and ice is gone. So I may not go at all.

Chase,

Thanks for the almost commitment to a possible investigation pending a short attention span.

Man I'd love to see some photos of this site. I'd go but I'm too gimped up to get back there. If I won the lottery, I think the first thing I'd have to do is hire a helicopter and get this cleared up. Well maybe the second thing.

I must say I am fighting a strong urge to totally commit to an expedition with my son to investigate this tomorrow. Although he is three and a half, so that means if there is snow I will be relegated to becoming his chariot. So we will see. In the event I do go for it. I'll post pictures right away when I get back. The part I’m worried about is just how bad it the terrain getting in? Though there seems to be at least two creeks that seem to reach from the body of water almost to the road way to the east. I am still betting on the underbrush to be really, really thick. Let’s hope I'm wrong.

How wants to go on an adventure. Anyone know of we could get my jeep back there. Put the yaks in and take a look at this. Looks like an adventure trip for the summer. Anyone want in?

I hunted deer in in the southern area of the pond and it has a dyke that is man made as far as I know by Ducks Unlimited. There are quite a few ducks and geese in there in the fall. Maybe they know what it is.

Funny you mention the ducks and geese...at first I thought it may have been flocks of ducks/geese flying by. I know it is probably not, as they would have to be some pretty large birds to show up on this image. Very interesting topic. I hope someone gets to the bottom of it.
Even a fish wouldn't get into trouble if he kept his mouth shut.

Chef,

If you look at the Google Maps image, there is a road that comes pretty close to the Dam at the southern tip of the lake. You may be able to get a Jeep in there pretty close. Not sure though. Just going by the satellite image.

Would love to have this thing explained to me or, better yet, see some photos of it.

I hope Chaseforen777 takes his expedition with his son. Until I see some photos, I'm leaning towards Atlantis or some sort of Alien Underwater Base again.  Wonder what kind of fishing this lake holds? Big alien purple Perch?

Thanks for the interest,

Terran

You would have to walk in the road that goes to the dam unless you have an atv. It's more of an atv trail than a road. I think I will wait till spring an canoe in, the woods are rough and swampy around the dyke area on the south end of the pond. If anyone is interested I can tell you how to get there.

Looking at the scale on google maps it would be a mile through swampy terrain.

There looks like there is a trail at the northern part of the lake. I'll be checking this one out this summer

Chef,

Which spot are you looking at on the northern part of the lake? The only "trail" looking feature on the north, that I could find, was the one that I linked to Pmorris. Still not sure it isn't a brook.

Is that the one or did you find another?

I have a map guru that is over laying maps a bunch of maps to see if there is a way in. He said that to the north of the lake there is a cement factory. Could be some sort of water system for the factory.

Chef,

Very interesting. If you could post any new info your "guru" finds, I'm sure we'd all appreciate it.

Still, if anyone could get some photos it would be SOOOO appreciated.

Yet another possible hypothesis. Just wish they'd made a big bloody sign and laid it next to this site with an explaination. Something that the satellite could pick up. People are so inconsiderate.

I'll have to look into the concrete plant scenario a little further.

Much thanks,

Terran

I don't have a solution for this quandry, meerly an observation which could lead to further hair pulling...lol... the satelite photos that put the google maps together are done in sections correct? The section that deals with the area in question is a far clearer than the rest of the lake... far more pixilated. Not sure what the reasoning behind the different pics but just thought I would bring it up. Can't imagine that it would be a bridge... to what? nothing around there but swamp... if it is man made as in a Dyke then again to what end? not having roads visible into an area that may or may not have been used a great deal decades ago is not as concerning.. I have seen old logging operations that when they were done you couldn't even tell they were there... no big vehicles scarring the earth.. just horses and chains etc...

I'm out to lafarge ( the cement plant ) once in a while and there is a massive quarry there . I'm curious as to if it is an old open pit mine, the structures visable could be sections of a retaining wall that would have aloud trucks to enter the bottom of the pit to be loaded. There is no visable roads to the area, but 20 years or 30 years of growth can do alot.

Thats my best guess, i'm not too far from the area, i might have to check it out sometime soon.
