1NSH Dave,

I hope the only "probing" that goes on is you checking out this spot. :o  These aliens have a penchant for butt - checks. If you fish, watch for the Purple Perch.

But seriously, hope you do get to check this out. Please take lots of pics.

The DFO would probably be able to answer our questions.

Chef,

I have sent off an e-mail to a friend at DFO to see if they have any firm info on this quandry. Not sure it's their neck of the woods, but who knows?

I'll let you know how it pans out.

Ducks Unlimited might know.

Hi all,
It would appear that the cement company indeed had something to do with this. If I am reading this correctly, the water is Lake Brook, and the following was in a report:

"By the mid-1990s the quarry extended to over 50 ha, but two streams confined mining. Marsh Brook drained
the southern portion of the site, flowing north and limiting the eastern advance of the quarry. Lake Brook, fed from Shortts Lake, presented a barrier to the north of the quarry. Unless these obstructions could be overcome the future of the quarry and the cement production facility would be very much curtailed.
Development of solutions began in the mid-1990s with the evaluation of quarry reclamation plans. Diversion of Marsh Brook was a top priority for quarry operations. It was determined that Marsh Brook could be diverted westward around the southern quarry face, on a clay bank constructed against the existing quarry rock wall, a distance of 2000 m. This perched waterway, the ‘West Berm’, is up to 15 m above the existing quarry floor. Construction required the placement of 2.3 million tons of overburden materials from quarry stripping. Construction of the West Berm began in 2001 and the waterway has functioned since 2004.

In 2005 plans for the Lake Brook diversion, including refurbishment of the Shortts Lake Dam (Fig. 1), were approved by Lafarge management and submitted for environmental approvals. In 2006 work at the dam was largely completed. This included design and installation of a fish way for gaspereau migration into Shortts Lake, a route that had been blocked for many years.
In 2007 the major elements of the Lake Brook diversion were constructed, including a storm detention pond, a 500 m long, deeply cut ‘East Channel’, and several major culverts. On July 5, 2007, Lake Brook was diverted into the East Channel to join the West Berm flow structures and the new waterway has been operational ever since. Aquatic and terrestrial wildlife are colonizing the entire project area. "

This would appear to be the answer. See http://www.gov.ns.ca.../mu/muv25n1.pdf

Hope that helps,
Bill

They did divert the brook near the cement plant, but i don't think this is the same location. Yes it is close, but the brook was diverted in the quarry and this location is quite far away . I'm heading to the cement plant for work, i'll see what i can find out about the brook diversion.

Also, take notice of the super shiney white thing approx 1500 feet east from center of " POND X " lol !

Satellite ?

If only we had noticed that shiny white thing from the start. That answers everything. It is clearly a ufo coming in to land, meaning the questionable shapes in the underwater alien base are some form of landing zone indication.

Case solved, guess I don't need to go on that adventure after all!

Flyfish,

Not so sure this is the answer. I believe in Post #10, Pmorris identified the brook that ran out of the south end of the lake (pond) as Big Meadow Brook. There is a Dam in place there now.

In looking at the document you linked, I don't see mention of Big Meadow Brook, nor do any of the photos reflect this area.

Your suggestion is as plausable as many of the others, yet it would be great to have some solid proof or documentation describing this specific area. This may have to do with LaFarge, however it does seem some distance from their facility.

Certainly worth further investigation.

Hi Terran-
Yes, Big Meadow Brook is what the Topo map has listed as the outflow, but your "mystery" structures are up at the top end of the pond and all above the dam, so could that be why they didn't mention it?
Very strange if you ask me...and here's a weird one, I added Big Meadow Brook to the mix and got this document - anyone in HRM know what a "12 per cent land" is? - if you look, our mystery watershed is #35...
http://www.gov.ns.ca...p_14_Linked.pdf

and then check out the link to the 12% (something about maybe "to be" wilderness perhaps???

http://www.gov.ns.ca...escription1.pdf

and if you look at the far left of the photo, you see one of our "mystery" things.

Flyfish,

Excellent finds.

The plot is getting thicker. Now we know the government is involved. For sure it's aliens - illegal if not extraterrestrial. ;)

It wouldn't surprise me if somebody built these things on Crown Land, under the governments nose and the government doesn't know they exist. Still, it's a hell of a piece from the Lafarge Plant. This would be one expensive and jumbo undertaking. Really need some definitive clarification on all of this. Yet, it's a start to explaining these things. I hope.
Bill - Thanks

Pmorris - Thanks for the 12% Definition link.

You speak of the aliens as though they aren't already in government.

I'm normally a "glass half-full guy", but doesn't 12% protected also mean 88% devastated?

Just sayin'...

i have been reading and following this thread, and as curious as i am i have to admit I've been laughing like hell at it.
my girl friend wanting to know what I've been laughing at also read it .

Her take on the whole thing is "this is what happens when a bunch of fishing addicts go through withdrawal from going too long without our fishing fix".

sadly i kind of agree with her !!!
