I haven't seen a government yet that managed anything properly, Look at the state of our fisheries in this province. I feel that I should buy some property and put in my own ponds for fishing and create my hunting habitat that I can manage myself. I have seen to many rivers, brooks, lakes and streams that have declined to the point of no return. The shameful part is some rivers still have great fishing and they are shut down. They say for conservation when it really boils down to lack of officers to patrol the river. Cutbacks and more Cutbacks!!! I can't see the forest because it's not there.......Wait I can see the river that I once fished, too bad there's no fish anymore... How about that cane rod day this summer Perry before it's too late?

Never underestimate any government's ability to disappoint you.

The movie Deliverance actually started out as a very pleasant canoe trip.

Does our own provincial Dept of the Environment not have any say, or authority, in the area which has been so recently vacated by the Federal Government? If not, Why not??? How long would it take to remedy thiis situation, if,in fact, it exists??? I suspect that this is a downloading of Federal responsibilities to the provinces in the name of / and under the guise of, economy, cuts, and removing duplication of effort. And,no, I'm not making excuses for, or giving justification to, the actions of the Harper Government. Regards.....

never under estimate the power of stupid ppl in large groups.
this gov is a disgrace. we keep going backwards instead of forwards, we could be world leaders in enviornmental issues, we could learn from the past and the mistakes made concering fish farms from others before us (which have now shut down and gone land based b/c of the probs it creates) but instead choose to do the samething hoping for different results or maybe just not caring all together...it's down right embarrassing.
money, money, money, greed, greed, greed. I use to think we were diff in canada but this reminds me of our southern cousins and what the republicans will do for their quest for oil and more money

You hit the nail on the head GF, money is at the base of everything gov't does. I've spent almost 30 years doing instream habitat improvements, and for what ?
. Those stupid SOBs in gov't will always ruin everything.

Hey Folks,
Apparently, the foolishness of the Government hasn't gone un-noticed.A second former Conservative cabinet minister has come out against this "plan".
Fisheries Act Plan draws heat from John Fraser: http://www.asf.ca/news.php?id=851
Hope there are more like him who will take a stand against this possible Environmental Disaster. A policy that makes no sense but to those wanting to "rape" the country and take our natural resourse for profit.
