Conservation for a Bright Future
On behalf of the Atlantic Salmon Federation (ASF) and Patagonia Halifax I would like to invite you to join us for an evening of ‘fun and fish’ at Keith’s Brewery Market on Water Street (home of Patagonia Halifax!) on Wednesday, May 30th.
We have a great night planned with a reception featuring smoked salmon from ASF’s Land-Based Closed-Containment Aquaculture research program. We have received great reviews on the smoked salmon and it was grown without the use of vaccines, harsh chemicals or antibiotics in tanks with continuously cleaned and recirculated water. Best of all, closed containment aquaculture separates farmed salmon from wild Atlantic salmon and their environment, ending risks from sea lice, disease, and ecological and genetic interactions.
ASF President, Bill Taylor, will give us an update on this innovative program and a look to the salmon season ahead.
The evening also features a special viewing of the River Why, starring William Hurt (Into the Wild, History of
Violence) and Zach Gilford (Friday Night Lights). This movie is about a young man’s rebellion that leads him on a reluctant quest for
self-discovery fuelled by his love of fishing and the wilderness.
Admission for the event is free and we will have a silent auction. Donations to support ASF’s innovative research on Land-Based Closed-Containment aquaculture are encouraged.
Attached is additional information on the event (see link at bottom of this post). To rsvp contact info@patagoniahalifax.ca or call 902 422 2066. If you have any questions please feel free to give me a call.
Thanks for your support of salmon conservation and we hope to see you on the 30th.
Best wishes, Rob
