I fished the Stewiacke river (last year)which runs into the Shubie and used mackeral, prawns, squid. Also used repellas, plugs. I read that eels were the bait to use along the New England coast but I havn't heard of it used here. I use 20lb test line. Hope that helps.
If people care about what is really important in life --- there would be a shortage of fishing rods

Hey captain,

Yea that rod will do, bloodworms are like crack for stripers...so i have heard. As someone mentioned live eels are supposed to be good too.

Curious...I grew up on Long Island...do you remember where you were fishing, staying, etc...?

i was fishing in montauk....surf casting and from a boat trolling, but that was like 25 years ago now...the crazy buggers done there went fishing at night with dry suits on and drifted around in the water with pockets full of bait with sharks around!..i read an acticle about a guy who hooked a big stripper and it started towing him out to sea and he didnt know if he should cut it off or keep fighting it....he landed 5 kms down the shore from where he put in and had a 57 lber.....they called it skimming.
