Hello everyone.I am new to fly fishing so after finding an old fly reel in the garage I decided to get a rod (cheap one) and some new line.I mostly fish the French river up here and gave it a hook last night, sorry for the pun.I did not catch anything, using mudder minnows that I bought but it was lots of fun trying to get the line on the water correctly but I guess I did ok because I didn't catch any trees lol.

Welcome to the Sport of Fly Fishing! Once you hook a few fish on the fly you will be addicted to it! Good Luck!

Yeah pretty much like Matt suggests... once you hook a few fish with the fly rod you will want to hook a few more etc etc... keep at it and your practice will pay off.

By the way brookman, if you're not hooking a few trees you may not be fishing in the right place!
