Thinking about going to the Margaree this weekend to do a little fishing for salmon, I live pretty far away and was just wondering if it would be worth the drive to go there, I would hate to not even get a bite, also I live in Halifax, but from pictou county.. Are there any good places right now to at least get my line wet to try and get salmon from around there. Thanks

Never a wasted trip to the Margaree, fish or no fish. As for Pictou county salmon better check the regs before you try for salmon there....I am pretty sure the rivers aren't open yet..

Was down there this weekend, things were quiet as the river is very low. One of my friends hooked a salmon around 10Lbs
other then that it was just some 10"-14" trout.

We were there last weekend and everyone we talked to said there haven't been any fish caught in a while and the water was so low that we didn't even bother fishing...I'm really thinking that all the rivers should be closed down till we get a lot more water...
Fished the North Aspy and caught a bunch of beautiful wild Brookies then went to the North River and found a pool that held around 30 big salmon but the water was so low and they were trapped, couldn't go up and couldn't go down, we fished for a little while but just didn't feel right about stressing the fish out. IMO all the salmon pools should be shut down.
Cheers!
