Haven't done a lot of fishing during the summer months up until last year when I fished continuously right through to the end of September. But last year we had a cool July with plenty of wet weather to keep my favorite river flowing well with plenty of cool water. I haven't been out at all over the past seven days. The week before the river where I fish went from unbelievable action with loads of sea run brook trout early in the week to next to nothing on Thursday. Water levels have been getting understandably lower every day. I am about catch and release and protecting the resource and have read that fishing when waters are low and warm like they are now can put undue pressure on the fish, so I've been staying away. Just wondering what you folks are up to during this hot and dry spell. I live in Port Hawkesbury....any suggestions on where to fish when the rivers are low like this?

I just came back this morning from fishing in Shubie Grand by Laurie Park. I caught a bunch of small mouth. Nothing to brag about but the bass love the warm waters and will go after just anything.....when you fly fish that is!
Otherwise i seem to only catch trout in the late evenings after 8-8:30 when the wind dies down and the beginning of dusk kicks in at Albro Lake.
I just starting fly fishing and fishing in general in N.S. so i have not been where you live. But i am sure that bass are always up for a some fun. It is the trout that require timing and location more then anything! We are expecting showers tonight so i would try tomorrow bright and early when the water levels are higher and cooler in the streams and rivers.
Cheers and good luck!

I would say try a different species of fish in other waters around where you live to keep the joy of fishing going, or you could try new waters for trout nothing like finding new spots the trip and sights are as valuable as the fish you catch.

i used to live in PH, if u dont care what u catch you can head down the causeway and hook into some mackerel, or go there at night and get into some squid.
