What do you guys use to clean off your gear if they get a bit rusty without damaging them?? I got a few spinners and treble hooks that I'm going to try and clean up. I was thinking maybe soak them in CLR for a couple hours or so. I also read online that some people use wd-40 and some fine sand paper or steel wool, but some guys were saying the wd-40 wont come off your gear and will spook fish. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks

WD 40 is toxic and really not necessary . A file and sandpaper will do the trick if they are pitted throw them away time for new ones.

Trebles are not worth cleaning...replace them.

I started to spray my spinners like hildebrandts with clear coat they don't seem to tarnish as quick but not sure about long term how good it'll protect them, I just mainly wanted to keep them from losing shine and getting dull looking
