DESCRIPTION:Greetings Anglers and spectators\,\n	\nOn behalf of the Shub
enacadie First Nation Band\, I am very proud to announce that we are hosti
ng our 3rd Annual Striped Bass Derby. The derby is designed to effectively
build community relationships as well as educating anglers through inform
ation sharing\, healthy angling skills &amp\; practices that relate to fis
hing as a whole. The Derby will be on Saturday May 4th\, 2013 from 8:00am
	- 8:00pm. The designated area is a section of the Stewiacke River that ru
ns between the highway #2 bridge and the CN bridge. I reviewed the feedba
ck from the anglers that participated in the derby last year and strategic
ally selected the same location because of space and accessibility.\n	\nTh
e Derby will be hook &amp\; release only with all other 2013 Provincial An
glers Guidelines applying. \nMembers of DFO\, DNR and the SBAANS will be o
n site to help develop and promote healthy angling techniques to both youn
g and old and to answer any questions people may have. \nThere will be no
fee to enter and a fishing license is not required for this derby. \nAll
Non-Aboriginal and Aboriginal people are welcome to participate or simply
be there to cheer on the anglers&#33\;&#33\; \nThere are many appealing
prizes to be won. Last year’s prizes totaled approximately &#036\;4000.
The first place winner caught 11 Bass that totaled a combined length of 2
06.5”. He took home a Pelican canoe with collapsible seats\, built in c
ooler and all the necessary accessories to transport it&#33\;&#33\; \nAngl
ers’ names are also drawn for random prizes throughout the day. \nPrize
s will only be awarded to registered participants of derby. \nRegistratio
n will commence at 7:45 am on May 4th.\n \nTo assist in making this event
even more successful than the last two years\, we are asking for your supp
ort by means of being a proud sponsor. I would like to also mention that w
e had a combined turnout of approximately 400 anglers &amp\; spectators la
st year&#33\;&#33\; I would like to kindly ask for your support as we wor
k together in building community relationships and most importantly\, havi
ng some genuine family fun. In saying so\, we look forward to seeing you\
, your family &amp\; your friends out on the banks of the Stewiacke River
on May 4th&#33\;\n\nFor futhure information please contact Keith Julian 75

ers are only to use one rod or tip up at a time.\n&gt\; No live bait. Prep
ared bait is acceptable.\n&gt\; A combined length of 3 fish will determine
first place.\n&gt\; The Lunker will be the longest fish.\n&gt\; INQUIRIES
: Howard Martell at 827-2468 or email hmartell@accesswave\n\nThe tournamen
t will be OPTIONAL live-release. If people want to eat their Pickerel - th
ey may retain them.\n\n&gt\; If the angler want to RELEASE the fish\, have
two options for fish measurement:\n\n&gt\; 1. Raise a flag to have the fi
sh measured. Anglers can have a cooler/bin filled with water in which to k
eep the fish alive for a few minutes while the officials make their way to
measure the fish. All fish measured alive must be released in front of th
e official.\n&gt\;\n&gt\; 2. An angler can transport the fish using a CASA
weigh-bag (filled with water) to the officials to be measured. Those fish
will be released by the officials.\n&gt\;\n&gt\; If the angler wishes to
RETAIN their pickerel\, they must ethically dispatch the fish immediately
upon capture (i.e. no fish flopping on ice). Anglers can have the fish mea
sured at any time. After measurement\, a fin clipping will be removed from
the dead pickerel to signify that is has been entered into the contest.\n
&gt\;\n&gt\; Anglers can measure as many fish as they wish\, but only the
3 longest pickerel will be used.\n&gt\;\n&gt\; Anglers retaining fish must
abide by the bag limit of 25 pickerel per angler.\n&gt\;\n&gt\; CASA does
not promote the wasting of fish\, therefore if pickerel are being retaine
d\, they are to be consumed.\n\nHere is a link to the latest discussion on
