Hey Gang,

The results of the 2010 Survey of Recreational Fishing in Canada are in and despite the hurdles damaging the environment; recreational fishing in Canada has contributed 10% more than it did in 2005. According to the Survey.

Here is a media release from the DFO website: Survey Shows Recreational Fishing a Contributor to the Canadian Economy - http://www.dfo-mpo.g...hq-ac10-eng.htm

Here is the link to the 2010 Survey of Recreational Fishing in Canada - http://www.dfo-mpo.g...0/index-eng.htm

Glad to hear that “Our government recognizes the contribution local fisheries make to the Canadian economy, especially in rural areas,” (Minister Ashfield) He went on to say, “We will continue to work with our partners to protect Canada’s valuable and natural oceans, lakes, and rivers for future generations.”

I wonder if aquaculture, eased Environmental Assessments and other industrial practices that are harmful to our sport will get harsher scrutiny? ;) (Missed all that in the news lately.)

Give the Survey a look.

Tight Lines,

Terran

Thanks for the link. It's a bit worrisome to see the slow decline in inflation-adjusted expenditures and, more importantly (or perhaps causally), the changing demographics of anglers.
